Thessaloniki didn’t know that her brother, Alexander the Great, had stolen this water soon before, and soon after he fell ill. That was the immortality water and could have saved him, but the water was gone and it was her fault. In her despair, she fell into the bay of Thermaikos to kill herself, but her pain and guilt turned her into a mermaid eternally swimming in the waters asking the sailors if king Alexander was alive. If they answered he was alive, she’d be content and wish them a nice journey ahead. But if not, her nymph beauty would give way to the form of a furious giant monster. Her golden armor and shield wouldn’t just be part of a princess uniform, but she’d be ready to fight and take souls, sinking the ship that brought bad news.

"What gives me a golden armor, is that my city named after the princess doesn’t have a single sculpture, a monument telling her story, such a wasted opportunity to share some magic, a myth, History, and legend with anyone who visits…" says the artist and she continues:

"It might not be monumental, but in my art medium all I could do was turn her myth into a painting and then a silk scarf, abstractly depicting the nymph and when you see the ‘explanation’ you can’t unsee it."
